The benefits of Corus Colorcoat® products

Some planners may think of pre-finished steel cladding as only being appropriate for large industrial or warehouse buildings, located on retail or business parks, on the edge of town centres or on out-of-town sites. They are only getting half of the picture. What follows demonstrates the positive benefits of using Colorcoat® products and how they can support planning applications in:

The Repertoire® online colour matching service enables Corus to offer an almost unlimited range of colours in Colorcoat HPS200® and Colorcoat Prisma®, backed up with the fully comprehensive Confidex® guarantee. So, if a colour is not quite right for the planners, or needs to be matched in more closely with the surrounding environment, then Corus can provide hand samples in the first instance and the full product when required. It allows the exterior of buildings to be treated in the same manner as the interiors.

Colorcoat® products can be used to break up large expanses of other materials or as a colour contrast, depending on the requirements of the site and its setting. Vertical or horizontal panels of Colorcoat can also visually break up the elevation of a large building.

Hand samples are available for Colorcoat Celestia®, Colorcoat HPS200® and Colorcoat Prisma® via the Colorcoat Connection® helpline. These can demonstrate the look and feel of the product when discussing or submitting an application.

Colorcoat products can replicate more traditional but cost-prohibitive materials, such as slate, copper or stone. They can be used to respect the vernacular architecture of an area.

Corus supplies all of the leading roof and wall system manufacturers in the UK and, taken together with our extensive range of Colorcoat products, they offer a wide range of looks for any building.

Sustainability

In line with all local authorities, Corus is committed to the principles of sustainable development. We are featured on the FTSE4Good Sustainability Index and are accredited to ISO14001. The use of Colorcoat® products can support the aims of sustainability in a number of ways:

  • We use a large proportion of recycled materials in our steel manufacture and continuously work to reduce the energy required to manufacture our products.
  • Our products are manufactured in the UK. Feedstock is delivered by rail from South Wales to our plant in Shotton, making efficient use of the transport infrastructure.
  • Colorcoat products can be refurbished, reused and recycled at the end of their life, providing a positive contribution to the environmental life cycle.
  • Our products are traceable through the supply chain from raw materials such as iron ore and paint, through to delivery on the construction site. This is not the case for many other building materials.
  • Life Cycle Analysis and Life Cycle Cost information are available for Colorcoat products.
