Filler blocks are a means of closing the profile cavities at junctions, where the blocks are inserted between the profile and the flashing. They are available for both the internal and external profile shape, and are cut to match the exact dimensions of the profile. Internally fixed blocks and a sealant provide a means of sealing draughts, restricting heat flow and helping to achieve a vapour check. Externally, they serve to exclude rain, snow, wind-blown debris - and vermin. Solid blocks are used to close the cavity, but if passive ventilation of the roof is necessary for the removal of moisture, then either cut-down or perforated blocks should be specified. At the eaves, notched blocks must be used to allow drainage from within the cavity. | |||
