Confidex Sustain® continues to be recognised as an outstanding world's first development from Corus Colors - with celebrations resulting from 2 more industry awards last week.
The B2B Marketing Awards 2008 presented Corus Colors with a runner-up certificate for Confidex Sustain® in its best product launch campaign category, whilst the development was also declared winner of the Chartered Institute for Waste Management’s award for Sustainable Product Development of the Year, which rewards products that have been designed or produced to impact sustainability. Other winners at the event included Wilkinson Group (Sustainable Retailer of the Year), MITIE & Hewlett Packard (Facilities Management Performance of the Year) and The Eden Project (Innovative Practice in Wastes Management and Resource Recovery).
The 2 successes join the recognition of last month, when Confidex Sustain® was presented an award at the Canmol Awards, the Chartered Insitiute of Marketing's Welsh awards.
Corus have been addressing the issue of sustainability in one form or another for over a decade developing Colorcoat® products to be the most sustainable in the market. As part of the ongoing commitment to sustainability, Corus worked together with their supply chain partners, CA Building products, Corus Panels and Profiles, Eurobond Laminates, Euroclad and Tegral Metal Forming, to offer Confidex Sustain® the world’s first CarbonNeutral building envelope.
As part of the continued commitment by Corus to go beyond mere compliance on environmental issues, the company is taking action to reduce to net zero the unavoidable CO2 emissions produced by Colorcoat HPS200® Ultra and Colorcoat Prisma® pre-finished steel products and the cladding systems they become part of. The result is Confidex Sustain®, which is only available when a Colorcoat HPS200® Ultra or Colorcoat Prisma® pre-finished steel product is used as part of a Colorcoat® assessed cladding system through the Colorcoat® Supply Chain partners. These ensure access to the most sustainable products in the market, quick availability and highest levels of quality and service.
Confidex Sustain® provides a combined guarantee covering the performance of the Colorcoat® products and offering the first CarbonNeutral building envelope in the world. This is achieved by measuring and offsetting its impact from cradle to cradle i.e. manufacture through to installation, use and end of life, reuse, recycling or disposal. This means for every 1kg of CO2 emitted by the pre-finished steel, cladding, fixings and insulation, Corus will off-set 1kg in climate friendly projects overseas. These have a social as well as environmental benefit and will see Corus investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in various locations Worldwide. About much more than just offsetting, Confidex Sustain® aims to encourage the specification of the most sustainable pre-finished steel products and cladding systems.
By doing this Corus along with their partners are the first and only company to be able to offer the entire supply chain this type of sustainable offering. Sustainability, although talked about in construction for a number of years, is only now being seen as an opportunity and important source of differentiation, driven by leading developers such as Gazeley, ProLogis and Easter Group which have been supporting Confidex Sustain® since its launch early last year.
