Corus seminars well attended across the UK and Ireland.

30 May 2008

A series of three Colorcoat® seminars were held in the UK and Ireland (London, Dublin and Liverpool) with the theme - Colour in the built environment.

Chair for the London and Liverpool events George Ferguson, ex-RIBA president and founder of the national group Acanthus, was joined by some of the industrys leading architectural names. In London Paul Monaghan from Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, in Liverpool Amo Kalsi, Director at Rogers Stirk Harbour &Partners and in Ireland Bernard Gilna, Associate Director at Murray O’Laire, all delivered papers on the consideration of the use of colour in design.

In addition, Ken Hall, Director of Global Construction from leading property developer ProLogis  also contributed. His subject for the sessions looked at practical considerations for the use of colour and its influence/impact on the buildings appearance. Jem Waygood, Co-Director, Eaton Waygood Associates, environmental designers, looked at colour from the perspective of both clients and planners.

The seminars were also an opportunity for Rodney Rice, Product Development Manager for Corus Colors to discuss how Corus are providing architects and clients with the colours of their choice with a focus on the new Colorcoat HPS200® Ultra product.

The seminars were well attended and have all received positive feedback so far. The events took place in venues such as RIBA headquarters and the newly completed ACC Arena on Liverpool’s waterfront, which uses Coloroat HPS200® in the metallic Orion colour (part of the new Colorcoat HPS200® Ultra colour range) as part of the wall cladding system.

The ACC Arena has only just recently won the RIBA North West award. Wilkinson Eyre who designed the building received the award at a ceremony in Liverpool on 28 May 2008.
Feedback for all the seminars was very posistive, “A good way of introducing colours in the built environment in a way that reflects the needs and standards of our time”.

With another architect adding “This is a potentially very useful product and makes life easier for designers”, “I look forward to finding out more about this product“.
