Corus Colorcoat® Class of 2006
02 Feb 2007
Seven of the UK’s top architectural graduates of last year recently attended the Colorcoat® day held at Shotton. The graduates were among eight of the most exceptional graduates who earned a place in BD’s (formerly Building Design magazine) Class of 2006. A panel of expert judges chose the eight outstanding graduates with projects as diverse as an inverted Singapore skyscraper, a funeral route in Havana, and a hidden arts city in Accrington. As part of the Corus commitment and involvement with the architectural community, the graduates were invited to listen and actively partake in various topics ranging from pre-finished steel proto-typing and design, how pre-finished steel can be used innovatively in architecture and the importance of specifying the right product. The attendees were also given tours of the Colorcoat® line and visited Corus Living Solutions to see their modular structures being made.
“I was impressed with the seemingly endless variations for the use of pre-finished steel”, said one of the guests. Another added, “The day provided me with a more in-depth understanding of a material that is so widely used in the industry. It made me more aware of the capabilities of pre-finished steel, allowing me to imagine new ways of using and manipulating the material which will give me more options in my future projects”.
Corus continues to have strong relationships with some of the most well known and respected architectural practices in the UK and the day is was an excellent way of demonstrating our ongoing contribution to supporting the industry’s most exciting young architects.
