02 Nov 2007

Corus were proud sponsors of this years RIBA conference which was held in Paris.

The event was held at Communist Party HQ. Several of the UK’s architectural practices attended as guests of Corus. RIBA president Sunand Prasad introduced seminars by speakers such as Jean Nouvelle and Spencer de Grey who discussed their collaboration, the theme of the conference, for Walbrook Square. Rafael Vinoly then talked about his major projects and how he collaborated with the client and artists involved. Mike Davies spoke alongside John Milford from BAA about T5. They discussed how collaborative working was the only way to deliver large complex projects. There was also a video link message from 99 year old, Oscar Niemeyer, architect of the RIBA conference venue. Also on the agenda were Roisin Heneghan  of Heneghan Peng Architects and Tony McLaughlin from Buro Happold who talked about the Cairo Museum project.

Julian Howlett of Sidell Gibson Architects commented, “The event turned out to be very worthwhile and I am sure everyone who attended enjoyed the experience”.

Stephen Davies of RPS Burks Green was similarly impressed with the event saying, “There were some great speakers at the conference – the theme of the event was collaboration. Being with a practice of Architects and Engineers, I can appreciate the value of integrating design, and was interested to hear how other designers collaborated and integrated their designs”.

It is the fourth time Corus have sponsored the event and continues to attract the UK’s top practices.
