Aldershot Centre for Health
Sustainability was the key to the design of the new Aldershot Health Centre, according to Chris Allen of SR Architects. The high thermal insulation of the fabric means that the predicted energy consumption will be well below government set targets.

Ashorne Hill Management College
The requirement for this project in Leamington Spa was to manufacture and construct a new building at Ashorne Hill Conference Centre in order to provide additional high quality accommodation for the centre’s residential courses. The client required a solution that would meet the tight schedule available for construction, keeping disruption to the daily operation of the centre to a bare minimum.
Astral Court
Baglan Bay Energy Park in Port Talbot, is the UK’s largest single investment site, boasting over 650 acres of prime manufacturing land. One of the most prominent buildings on the site is Astral Court, a 4645 m2 industrial unit comprising a production unit and ancillary office accommodation.
Big Storage
The client for Big Storage – The Printworks in Chester West Employment Park was formerly Printworks Chester LLP. The build is an extension to an existing building designed originally, as the name suggests, as a printing house for the Chester Chronicle in the 1980s by Design Group Chester (DGC).
BMW Sytner Mini Leicestershire
Colorcoat Prisma® was the material of choice for Leicester’s largest and BMW’s most successful dealership, Sytner Mini.
Boldon School
Architect Waring and Netts have specified Colorcoat HPS200® in both Sargasso and white with Eurobond’s Europanel to provide an attractive finish with inherent fire protection, increased sound insulation and greater thermal performance for Boldon School, a PFI secondary school in South Tyneside.
Bosch Siemens
The new Bosch Siemens Homeware (BSH) warehouse and offices in Kettering are the driving force behind what Prologis Developments believes is one of the largest distribution, warehouse and manufacturing developments in Europe. When complete, the site will comprise 204,390 m2 of internal let table space.
Bulmers
The production of cider has been an outstanding success story in Ireland over the last decade, more than doubling its market share, largely at the expense of beer. Leading that success story is Bulmers of Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.
Butterfield Business Park
Championed as Green building of the year, Butterfield Business Park in Luton, was destined for success, when incorporating Colorcoat HPS200® pre-finished steel to the specification of the cladding.
Cadogan Tate
Distribution and logistics centre developer, Rosemound properties had this building designed for use by transport and storage specialist Cadogan Tate. The building was constructed on a semi-industrial brownfield site in the shadow of larger office buildings.
Carton LeVere Studio House
When design practice Antoin MacGabhann Architects was approached to design a new house and studio in rural Donegal, the clients were uncertain whether they would live in the house permanently or use it occassionally as a holiday retreat.
Falster, Denmark
“Anything could be inside that building” Architect Jan Fogtmann states. The Hyundai and Mitsubishi car showroom that now occupies the building is complete with offices and a modern garage with testing facilities.
Cardiff City Stadium

The Christelijke Basisschool De Kamperschouw in The Netherlands meets all the requirements for modern education. The school is well equipped both inside and out, with state-of-the-art computers, peripherals and software for learning inside and a colourful unique design on the outside.
Chatterley Valley
Chatterley Valley Blue Planet in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, North Staffordshire, utilised the Corus Repertoire® Colour Consultancy to achieve its striking colour scheme. Designed by Chetwood Architects, the 385,000 sq ft warehouse makes use of Colorcoat HPS200® Ultra for the roof and Colorcoat Prisma® for the walls. Now, with Colorcoat Prisma® achieving BBA certification on performance, in excess of 40 years, along with the market leading Confidex® Guarantee, the client is assured total piece of mind.
Clore Tikva School
The Clore Tikva School is a voluntary aided primary school for the Progressive Jewish Community in the London Borough of Redbridge. The entire single storey building is a striking combination of the imagination of the architect, and the religious imagery required by the client, (an amalgamation of local rabbi, educators and lay people).
Coca Cola-Distribution Warehouse
A new distribution warehouse completed in 2008 by Distribuciones Hosteleras Torrijos (DHT) in Toledo, Spain, is a dramatic example of the use of Corus Colorcoat HPS200® pre-finished steel.
Colnbrook-Energy From Waste Facility
The Energy from Waste plant in Colnbrook, Slough, is a new state-of-the-art facility forming part of a £160 million redevelopment scheme and with specification in Colorcoat Prisma® Ariadne and Mercury for the wall application.
Dakota Hotel
This project, for a hotel and office complex, followed the successful launch of a very similar development near Nottingham.Built for Simons Developments and the emerging Dakota hotel chain in 2004, the original scheme proved that the principle of co-locating high quality hotel accommodation and serviced office environments was commercially and logistically viable.
The Dolls House
A black dotted architectural installation greeted visitors at the entrance to Superstudio Più, at the Milan Design Week this year. When Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc wanted to create an impression at the Design show in Italy she decided to use Qbiss by trimo, new modular façade system using Corus Colorcoat Prisma® pre-finished steel in Kronos to create something which was both striking and visually inspiring.
The Eco-Factory
From the early 1970s techniques have been developed to improve the energy efficiency of factory buildings in the UK. These developments in theoretical studies and eventually in built form have mainly focused on improvements in the thermal efficiency of the building envelope.
Edgbaston Cricket School
When David Morley started work on the first of the new generation of cricket schools at the MCC in 1995 there was no clearly defined building type or model on which to base design standards and forms. Two crucial factors were identified, the quality of the playing surface and the need for high levels of illumination, prefereably with little variation.

Feniscowles School
When the felt roof on Feniscowles School in Blackburn reached the end of its useful working life, overcladding with a curved standing-seam roof in Colorcoat HPS200® provided the solution. The flat roof was in need of refurbishment, but was structurally sound so clients, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council in conjunction with the Capita Group, decided to over-roof it rather than opt for a full replacement.
Ferry Terminal
The use of Colorcoat HPS200® on the walls in this environment has a dual function. Firstly, its Galvalloy® substrate and unique coating formulation gives it the proven ability to provide protection from the salt water and harsh North Sea climate. Secondly, the striking colour creates a focal point for passengers arriving at the port.
Forest Holiday Homes
At the picturesque Deerpark near Liskeard in Cornwall, Forest Holidays have erected a large number of holiday chalets. From the start these chalets had to be sympathetic to the surrounding countryside yet comply with modern standards in terms of performance and appearance.
The Galleries Retail Park
Ambitious developments over the past two years by the owners have enabled The Galleries, Washington, Tyne on Wear, to continue to thrive in 2009. Prudential’s £20m investment has funded the largest project, extension of the Retail Park, and the rejuvenation of the original Galleries development.
Gatwick Road Car Showroom
Building 1, Gatwick Road, Crawley is a car showroom providing office space and workshop facilities. The 5,628m2 site was previously occupied by Suzuki Warehouse as part of a larger development of car showrooms. The architects were Hamiltons and the main contractor was Talbot Construction who specialise in the construction of car showrooms within their overall commercial portfolio.
Gazeley Distribution Centre
Colorcoat Prisma® made its debut on the recently completed 41,000m² distribution centre at Marsh Leys in Bedford. Due to the high profile location of the centre, Gazeley Properties wanted a colour solution that would make the structure as visually appealing as possible and offer superior durability and performance.
Hospital treatment centre
Colorcoat® products played a major role in the construction of Milton Keynes General Hospital designed to treat surgery day patients. Milton Keynes health authority has been working to assess the need for future capacity for two years, supported by consultancy work in both acute and intermediary care.
House and Office Courage
House and Office Courage, Apeldoorn, Netherlands Lars Courage of Courage Architects chose to demonstrate the versatility of Colorcoat HPS200® by using the product extensively in the construction of his own practice and home.
Ice Arena
IceSheffield is one of the largest ice arenas in the UK. Containing two Olympic-sized ice rinks, one for performance and another for recreational use. After an extensive period of research, the construction team and architects, BDP, selected a bespoke cladding system incorporating Colorcoat HPS200® pre-finished steel from Corus on both the roof and walls.
Ikea
IKEA’s first city centre store opened in Coventry on 16th December 2007. In its striking IKEA colour scheme of grey and blue the building rises to seven stories and has a floor space covering the equivalent of eight football pitches.
Jaguar Training Academy
Escalating energy bills make it clear that tackling climate change by reducing energy use would create significant economic and environmental benefits. Estimates suggest that 90 per cent of buildings standing in 2050 have already been built. Therefore, improving the energy performance of existing buildings should be a priority.
Kings Waterfront
Kings Waterfront extends to approximately 36.06 acres and has a prime waterfront location alongside the river Mersey, immediately to the south of the world renowned Albert Dock complex in Liverpool. Part of the site lies within the World Heritage Site.
Prologis Kingston Park
Prologis Kingston Park, in Peterborough, has made optimal utilisation of Colorcoat HPS200® (now superseded by Colorcoat HPS200® Ultra) in Hamlet for the roof and Albatross and White for wall application.
The Liberty Stadium
The new Liberty Stadium, Swansea, was developed to create a first class sporting venue for football and rugby in the region, catapulting the city into the premier league of sporting facilities.
Living Tomorrow
The Living Tomorrow 3 building in Amsterdam is a testament to the imagination and creativity of the architect, Ben van Berkel from UN Studios in conjunction with the Living Tomorrow Organisation. Cladding is a major structural and visual element, with Corus supplying Colorcoat® PVDF pre-finished steel for the panels in a unique subtle flip colour to meet the unusual requirements of the design.
Loseley Dairy Ice Cream Factory
Loseley Dairy Ice Cream is the UK’s largest premium ice-cream manufacturer and has developed one of Europe’s most advanced facilities, based in South Wales. Originally constructed to house an electronics assembly line, the building needed significant refurbishment to make it suitable for food processing.
Lyons Seafood Factory
When Lyons Seafoods needed to expand its chilled food production base in Warminster it had two options: buy up an adjacent builder’s yard and extend or move to a completely new site away from the area.
M1 Dundalk Retail Park
The size of out-of-town retail parks are curtailed by law in the Republic of Ireland, in an attempt to limit the impact of these developments on the countryside and preserve the vitality of town centres.
Manchester United Quandrants
Old Trafford, home to Manchester United Football Club, has been extensively remodelled over the last 10 years, and the completion of the “Quadrant” project is the last piece of the jigsaw. Until 2006, the north-east and north-west corners of the stadium (the country’s largest club ground) were open and incomplete, interrupting the “flow” of the structure’s lines and reducing the crowd capacity.
Mark Hall Community School
The Mark Hall Community School is the largest comprehensive school in Harlow. The new £5.8 million sports complex, which includes a health & fitness centre, full size all weather floodlit football pitch and running track is used by the school, partner schools and is open for general community use.
McDonalds restaurant
“We specified Colorcoat® PVDF for its ability to meet all our requirements, which include the product’s flexibility to accommodate the design proposals, including the unusual shape, as well as the planning demands for innovation.” says architect Ron King.
The Merchant Group call centre
Call centres are a building type that has evolved with the rapid development in communications technology over the past two decades. Early examples were usually converted warehouses and were generally unsophisticated buildings. Nowadays, call centres are purpose built, high tech buildings.
Millennium Stadium
The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff has been heralded as a sporting venue without precedent. With a seating capacity of 75,000, the multi-use stadium is a highly visible icon for the city, with Colorcoat Celestia® instrumental in ensuring its superior appearance.
Neath Port Talbot hospital
Neath Port Talbot hospital is a £56 million project, comprising of 270 beds and built under the PFI scheme by Interserve for Bro Morgannwg NHS Trust.
Newcastle Central Station
Newcastle Central train station celebrated its 150th birthday with a refurbishment which used Colorcoat HPS200® for the roof. The history of the Grade I listed building, built between 1845 and 1850, meant that any regeneration had to be done sympathetically and artistically.
Niekee School
The Niekee Centre school of education for technology & economics makes extensive use of Corus Colorcoat HPS200® (now superceded by Colorcoat HPS200® Ultra) pre-finished steel. The 8,000m2 building makes use of all 27 standard colours in the Colorcoat HPS200® range.
The Odyssey Arena
Located in the Abercorn Basin in Belfast, the Odyssey centre was built to provide an iconic millenial symbol for Belfast, with the design of the whole complex reflecting Belfast's historic shipbuilding tradition. Situated on the quayside opposite the famous Harland and Wolff shipyard, the centre comprises a 10,000 seat indoor sports and concert arena, shopping centre and an IMAX theatre
Pioneer Point
Bob Fletcher, of Fletcher Architects, Manchester settled on Corus Colorcoat HPS200® pre-finished steel to clad this large development. The building was given a strong banded facade in three colours - Merlin, Hamlet and Goosewing Grey- while “feature” items such as the building’s corners were fitted out in Wedgewood Blue.
Princess Yachts
Princess Yachts in Millbay Dock, Plymouth, is one of the first projects to register for Confidex Sustain®. Commissioned by Princess Yachts International, Britain’s second largest luxury boat builder, the £6.5 million project is set for completion next year.

ProLogis Crewe 360
ProLogis Crewe 360, as the name suggests, is a 360,000 sq ft speculative built industrial warehouse, with exceptional environmental benefits and specified to a high standard using Colorcoat Prisma® in Silver Metallic and Slate grey for the exterior façade of the building envelope.
ProLogis Park Kettering
ProLogis Park Kettering is a 2.2million sq ft business park, situated within the Northern region of Northamptonshire and specified Colorcoat HPS200® in Goosewing Grey for the roof and Colorcoat Prisma® in Alaska Grey and Oyster for the walls.
ProLogis Park Midpoint
ProLogis Park Midpoint, in Sutton Colefield, is the prime location for the development of the 1.25million sq ft build allocated for industrial purposes, with using Colorcoat HPS200® in Goosewing Grey for the roof and Colorcoat Prisma® in Albatross and Merlin Grey for the walls.
ProLogis Pineham

ProLogis Stoke On Trent
Stoke-On-Trent, is the chosen location by ProLogis for the 380,00 sq ft build for the location of distribution warehouses using Colorcoat HPS200® in Merlin Grey on the roof and Colorcoat Prisma® in Alaska Grey and Oyster for the walls.
Tooleys Boatyard and Banbury Museum
The new construction at Banbury Museum and Tooleys Boatyard had to combine modern design within a traditional and historic setting.
Tricycle Cinema
The Tricycle Cinema was completed in 1998 and represents the third stage in the development of the Tricycle Theatre complex. The location of the structure dictated the design, with the exterior cladding used to reflect the lightweight structure of the upper part of the building and meeting the strict planning restrictions placed on a public London building.
The Wallis building
A challenge faced the architects in the design and regeneration of an industrial building on the Junction Six Industrial and Business Park in Witton, Birmingham. The brief comprised the refurbishment of the former headquarters of the GEC organisation, a building originally designed by Wallis Gilbert & Partners.
The Water Villa
Not all building projects are located on dry land and the Water Villa in the Netherlands is a classic example of how innovative architecture can be successful even in the most unusual locations.
