Coca Cola-Distribution Warehouse

The brightly panelled building makes a striking statement in red to reflect the products it distributes for the Coca-Cola Company in Spain.  The courageous decision to use red on the mass of the building is offset by a decision to use an assymetrical ziggurat in white encasing a brise soleil on the important front entrance elevation.

The Coca-Cola Company is the world’s largest non-alcoholic beverage company that markets four of the world’s top five non-alcoholic sparkling beverage brands.  Through the world’s largest beverage distribution system consumers in more than 200 countries consume over 1.4 billion servings each day. This new warehouse, located in Torrijos, Toledo in central Spain just 70km south of Madrid, is an important new addition to the operations of the Coca-Cola Company’s distribution partner DHT.

The courageous decision to use red on the mass of the building is offset by a decision to use an asymmetrical ziggurat in white encasing a brise soleil on the important front entrance elevation. Although designed by the architects Jose Augustin Ruiz Cruelles, it was the client’s decision to specify Corus Colorcoat products, namely, Colorcoat HPS200® because of the market leading guarantee offered, Confidex®.  Corus launched the first guarantee in Europe for a pre-finished steel product in the 1990s. Another important factor for choosing Colorcoat HPS200® was the availability of poppy red, a close match to the Coca-Cola Company corporate colours.
