Ferry Terminal

Hull, UK

The use of Colorcoat HPS200® on the walls in this environment has a dual function.

Project Summary images - Ferry_FT.jpg

P&O Ferries is a major international logistic and transport company and the multi pound terminal at Hull is visual representation of the scale of the company’s operations. The terminal was constructed to accommodate the passengers and freight passing through to the port on a daily basis. The port is home to world’s largest super cruises ferries and is the only passenger port on the Humber estuary. The building had to be both functional and visually striking as it dominates the King George Dock area.

The design of the terminal facility includes the provision of a four-storey car park, passenger ticketing and lounge facilities, as well as offices for customs, immigration and other port related functions. Due to the marine environment, material durability and robustness were critical issues in the specification. The terminal handles a throughput of approximately one million passengers each year and is one of the main freight routes I the North Sea.
