IKEA’s first city centre store opened in Coventry on 16th December 2007. In its striking IKEA colour scheme of grey and blue the building rises to seven stories and has a floor space covering the equivalent of eight football pitches.

The store offers free contained parking for around 800 cars. The building was designed by Capita Ruddle Wilkinson now part of Capita Symonds and sister company to Capita Percy Thomas. The main contractor was Underwood Carpenter and the sub-contractor was Metclad Contracts Ltd.
